Grammarly doesn’t work with WordPress Gutenberg
“wordpress grammarly” can be annoying sometimes.
I’m using Firefox and have Grammarly extension installed. Email, Google Docs all work fine until I opened the WP Gutenberg block editor. The familiar red wavy underlines were just so shy to appear. Without this error-reminding tool, I’m too timid to type anything.
I’ve tried several ways and finally found out solutions. No need to copy and paste all content into Grammarly’s editor then back into Gutenberg – which is so inhumane a writing behavior.
Option one: Install the grammarly desktop
So I followed the official instruction of Grammarly to install the desktop version.
Nothing happens… Maybe due to some conflicts of the desktop software and the extension?
So I uninstalled the Grammarly Firefox extension and saw this:
I reopened the WP Gutenberg editor again but the desktop version just failed to take any effect on the page. 🤕
Well, you know Mike, your team works hard but not on Gutenberg. WP users rely on spelling check so much, but I guess you are losing some shares of the market now.
Option Two: USE Language Tool Extension
Have to find a working solution.
I googled, googled and googled. Finally saw someone recommending an app called “LanguageTool”, which claims to work for various languages (that’s an unexpected plus).
I installed this cute extension and couldn’t wait to open the WordPress Gutenberg editor:
The familiar interface appeared!🥰
It’s super easy to use, and I don’t even need to create an account!
Wrap up
I’ve tested LanguageTool on Google Docs as well. It worked perfectly.
Hope it will go on with this good service. BTW, just can’t believe Grammarly is so slow on WP plugin development.
