I had a client who was in the education niche and wanted to rank higher for competitive keywords like “online courses” and “elearning”. The top results on Google were already optimized by big players in the industry with strong domain authority.

As an SEO expert, I knew it would be difficult to outrank them quickly. So I came up with a strategy to extract the optimized content from the top-ranking websites to give my client’s content a boost.

  • First, I searched Google for the target keywords and opened the top 3 results. I analyzed their content and noted down the H1 to H3 headings they were using. I found some headings that my client had not covered yet in their content.
  • Second, I instructed my client to write 200 words of content for each of those new headings. They created insightful content to answer questions around those headings.
  • Third, we updated and published the new content on their website.
  • Fourth, I submitted a request to Google Search Console to index the new content.

Within a few weeks, the traffic to my client’s website started growing rapidly. The new content, along with the optimized headings, helped their rankings and visibility in search results. My strategy of analyzing competitors’ content and using their optimized elements worked successfully for the client. With continuous optimization, their website reached the top positions for the target keywords over the next few months.

The key is to replicate what’s already working for the top players. Use their optimized headings and content structure but create original content to build authority in Google’s eyes. With execution, this technique can yield quick results for competitive keywords.
